Break in the Day
It was so nice seeing Ralph and Cathy Swanson today. They stopped by and we walked across the street to Duke's Chowder House and had dinner. Dave wasn't too hungry so just had a few bites of chowder and a piece of bread. He has been eating better at the hotel though, so I wasn't too worried. He's still feeling very tired and has little energy. I believe they will be checking his thyroid function this next week. We meet with the "team" on Monday to talk about what comes next. He will have a bone marrow biopsy and a PET CT scan for sure. I believe the PET CT scan will be on he 17th. Please continue to pray for his healing and also for strength both physically and mentally. It's been a long haul and we are anxious to be back home.
Hi Jennifer-
ReplyDeletehope all is well and you're continuing to have a nice weekend. I wish it were a little sunnier; but oh well. lovely Seattle weather. I was wondering if you would want to come to a babyshower/brunch my aunt is having for me next weekend? It will be on Saturday morning, the 18th from about 10 until 12. My mom and dad are coming out, and mom and I could pick you up, drop you off. I know it's sort of late notice, I associate you guys so much with Whitefish, I didn't think about having you here... even though I check this site every day. duh!! Even if that doens't work, mom will probably want to stop in to say Hello, so hopefully I'll see you sometime in the next week. Take care,
Rachel Gerken
I wish I could tell you that all of a sudden that your energy will come back, but it is a gradual process. Our bodies went through a severe challenge and injury by the chemo and radiation. Our bodies are now repairing that damage and are using all our energy for repair which doesn't leave us much left over. The important things you already know. Keep moving and feed the furnace. As a fireman you know you need air (exercise), fuel (lots of food especially protein) and ignition (the will) to build a fire. That's what you need to get better. GlenH
ReplyDeleteGlenn, would you send us your address; somehow I've misplaced it. Thanks and thanks for all your comments too. Say hi to Ann for us
