Out of Hospital

After a night of being monitored, Dave was discharged today around 4 p.m. He's doing pretty good and feeling better than yesterday. He's still not eating much and didn't eat anything while in the hospital. I did get him to eat a little about an hour ago. I'll try again in another hour or so. I will be so relieved when he starts eating better, that is such a worry for me. I've never had that concern with him before!!

  1. Jennifer, I had the same problem and it turned out to be pseudo graft versus host disease (GVHD) of the gut. Mention it to your team to see if they think it is worth checking. In the hospital they jumped right on it, but my attending MD specialized in GVHD. If he doesn't start eating soon, ask them to check. It isn't alot of fun to check, because it requires an upper endoscopy, but they give you IV medications. I never knew what happened. Try chicken noodle soup and those chicken pot pies are great, lots of protein. (Iams or Marie Callender are the best (Maries includes a way to get a nice crispy crust even in the microwave. We are both pulling for Dave. Keep getting better.
